While cross-sectoral climate action continues to ramp up, insurers and work providers urgently need to prioritise decarbonisation of supply chain emissions.
For many, supply chain related emissions are the largest source, and the most challenging to reduce. On average, they are 12 times larger than direct emissions from operations. Funding of the value chain by organisations contracting with them is seen as a reasonable assumption and a recommendation of the Science Based Targets initiative.
Most insurers that have committed to net zero by 2050 are contributing £15 per repair.
