Achieving PAS2060 carbon neutrality was an importance milestone, but that wasn't the end of the journey. With the adoption of ARIES, the business moved beyond accreditation into action. By focusing on the entire energy journey, ARIES revealed new opportunities to cut costs, improve repair cycles and embed environmental thinking across the business.
A family-owned business established in 1987, with two sites in Caversham and Abingdon, Caversham Coachworks have always been mindful of the environmental impact of the industry. Leading the way in sustainable practises they replaced conventional 2-pack Isocyanate paints with a water-based system early on.
Introducing a companywide environmental strategy has since driven a genuine cultural change, with sustainability now embedded into every decision, process and mindset.
Today, everything that can be recycled is recycled, from waste metals, plastics, paper and waste paint materials to electrical equipment. Following ARIES recommendations, the business has also introduced solvent recycling, installed energy saving lighting throughout, upgraded to ultra-efficient gas-fired spray booth burners and invested in a new energy efficient air conditioning system. They are also increasing their use of Green Parts, improving parts availability while reducing both repair costs for customers and overall carbon impact.
Onboarding was straightforward. The ARIEShub clearly outlined the benefits and provided the right level of guidance. As Mike explained, "the only time-consuming part was pulling the paperwork together, but that wasn't complicated".
ARIES has not only strengthened Caversham Coachworks credentials but fundamentally changed how their business operates. What began as a move beyond PAS2060 has evolved into a fully embedded environmental strategy, that delivers practical benefits across cost, efficiency and sustainability.
